How do I set up my Canvas work account?

Updated on

Workflows are not supported in your browser.
Please use a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari to display this page.

Your employee Canvas admin account has been created. You may receive a couple of emails that talk about your account and what sub-accounts you have permissions in.

Please check for two emails from Instructure

Disregard the email that describes what sub-account you have access to in Canvas. That is not important. Please open the email that references the need to finish registering your account.

They will likely come from this email address: [email protected]

Make sure to check your spam or junk folder.

Open the Link within the Registration Email from Instructure

Please open the link to finish registration of your Canvas work account.

Note: Please follow the next steps very carefully or you can merge your student account with your employee account. This is something we try to avoid because further intervention from IT is required to fix it.

Press "No" 2 times on the "Welcome Aboard" screen

Note: Please click "No" when asked, "Would you like to add this email address to your current account?"

Note: Please click "No" when asked, "Are you __________?"

Troubleshooting

1. What if I can't find the emails?

Wait 24 hours to see if they come. Make sure to check your spam and junk folders in case they are filtered out of your main inbox. If it does not come through, please let your supervisor know and they will alert IT to send the notification again.

2. What if I accidentally click "Yes" when I was supposed to click "No"?

That happens and if it does, just let your supervisor know and they will contact IT to begin the process to get the two accounts separated.

3. Where do I go for help or support regarding this process?

The best option is to reach out to your supervisor. They will know how to proceed if there are problems with getting your Canvas work account set up.

Congratulations, you are done!
